Curious about a couple things for people who might live in the Grandale neighborhood south of Durham. I'm possibly buying a house in the neighborhood and in part of the due diligence found fence height restrictions of 4.5ft. In your experience, is that a hard-and-fast rule that is never conceded or could a 6ft. fence of same construction materials and design as listed in the HOA covenants be workable? If not, are there any good nearby areas to exercise a dog and services available such as dog walkers to deal with a husky being indoors-only? A 4.5ft fence will not contain my husky...

Thanks!

I can't speak for Grandale specifically, but as a dog owner I always assume that HOA fence rules are non-negotiable. I passed on a couple of neighborhoods I really liked because only low fence heights were allowed.

In other words, if you really want a 6' fence for your husky, you need to find a different neighborhood.

And if you really want to know if a specific neighborhood's HOA is flexible, you need to contact the HOA.

From what I hear, don't mess with the HOA. Their rules are strict and enforceable. One of my friend was fined by his HOA (not in Triangle) due to excessively tall and unkept lawn grass. FWIW.
