Brunch bill, HB2, social issues: NC General Assembly 2017 | News & Observer

Quote:
The ink was barely dry after the governor signed the so-called brunch bill into law before the Carrboro Board of Aldermen called a special meeting for Monday to allow alcohol sales starting at 10 am. on Sundays.

The new law paves the way for restaurants to start selling Bloody Marys, mimosas and other drinks before noon, if city and county elected officials allow it. The expanded hours also apply to retail sales of alcohol.

I'd be interested to see if this increased revenue for eateries in the area.

I'm not a big drinker so it wouldn't cause me to go eat brunch when I normally wouldn't. But I do love brunch!

The bad news is that whenever I didn't want to drink, I could go to brunch and find a table no problem before noon - now I'll have to compete with the masses

I'd be fine with just completely legalizing alcohol sale for any time on Sunday.

I don't know that I'll rush out for brunch this weekend, but I am more likely to go to brunch now.

I love brunch. But brunch without the option of a mimosa just always felt so wrong.

I go out to breakfast at 7 or 8 on the weekends just to avoid crowds.

The only place I really know of or like for sit down breakfast is The Flying Biscuit though.

Not a big Mimosa drinker myself, but there have been times I wanted to buy alcohol while shopping Sunday morning because I was using it in a recipe I was making for lunch. Would be nice to not have to worry about that.

Don't think for a moment this new law was instigated and intended solely for the polite tête-à-tête Second Empire white tablecloth and mimosa crowd.

Protests Erupt Across Raleigh in Support of Brunch Bill - ITB Insider

Just stumbled upon this, thought it was funny and still appropriate that the bill is still in its infancy.
