My family is relocating from the Charlotte area (specifically Mint Hill), and we are budget constrained due to sending one child to college and preparing to send another one in a few years. I see the 3-story townhomes in Glenwood Station are within our price range and welcome any feedback on the quality of the neighborhood. I have some concerns as it appears to be surrounded by shopping centers/retail. We live in Mint Hill currently and have been spoiled by the quiet and safety of our one-street neighborhood set in a small town. Prior to that we lived in a 3-story townhome in "downtown" Mint Hill and enjoyed the laidback nature of that neighborhood as well. Please let me know your thoughts on this neighborhood or others which offer an easy commute to Raleigh, RTP and NC State. Much to our agent's consternation, we are trying to stay under $300,000.
they are very popular right now. it's a good location for commuting to RTP and downtown Raleigh, somewhat equally. It's not the type of neighborhood you'll be going out on an evening stroll through nearby established neighborhoods though - it is fairly landlocked there off Glenwood
and they're selling in days/hours.
you also have Glenwood North, and possibly just at/slightly over $300K Bentley Ridge (Oldetown)
I think it's a good location for being in between downtown Raleigh and RTP - I definitely considered that neighborhood/area when I was house searching last year.
Thanks for the replies. We took a look today and unfortunately the two homes there on the market now are in need of sprucing up and we aren't willing to take that on. Another townhome was listed for a day or two before it went under contract, and it appeared from the pictures to be in move-in condition.
I often wonder what the realtors on this board think about the area around Avent Ferry, Trinity, Crossorads, Lake Johnson.
All of the multi-family housing I see off Trinity, Crossroads Blvd. certainly isn't student housing.
Do y'all consider that a desirable, convenient, safe, affordable & centrally-located area?
I go running on Lake Johnson when I visit and lived on Lake Dam Road in college.
I like the area.
