We have a lot of universities in the area & their libraries are usually open late. The undergraduate library at NCSU has a coffee shop, an ice cream shop, and probably more. There are usually places to park on campus for free at night, too.

Yep, it's a cocktail bar at night with waiter service for desserts.

I know you weren't fond of the restaurant/bar places due to noise but what about some of the breweries like Compass Rose? They usually are a little more relaxed and sometimes not that busy later at night and usually have places to plug in.

It’s not particularly loud, though.

It depends, I've been where it's been really loud and sometimes during the week they have events some nights there too. You'd probably get weird looks if you pulled out a laptop and went to work there.
