Wake County added almost 39,000 in the last year. That's more than all but 6 counties in the entire country.

Yeah, and they're acting like it's some kind of a good thing.

Well, it's not. The idiots that run this county and the towns in and around it aren't much on the planning aspect of things.

That's why it's turning into an overcrowded, gridlocked garbage dump.

Exclamation How's this for a growth statistic?

From July 06 to July 07, Wake County (38,841) had a larger net increase in population than the entire State of Florida (35,301)

Stories about latest population numbers from the Raleigh News&Observer and the Miami Herald below:

Exactly. The news about our recent Forbes magazine ranking sucks too.

I remember. It is similar but not the same. This one links a Miami Herald story too. I think the juxtaposition of these numbers warranted a thread of its own.

That's such great news. This area is awesome and people know it. It's a great feeling knowing I live in a place that is so appealing. I love the growth. It brings so many good things, which far outway the bad things in most areas. I love the fact that it will also keep the value in my home going in the right direction..............UP!!!!

Thanks for positng the link.

I agree. All this does is fan the flames of overcrowding and at some point, this bravado will be the area's undoing. I won't until tell you how many people I know who are nearing retirement age and talk of "Going to Caroliney" when the time comes (NYers)....

The peak has not hit IMO.....still want all the neons signs heralding "Best Place To Live in the World" pointing your way?

PS..I'm heading to VA.....cross 2 off the transplant list

Reading your posts, I get the impression that you're another one of these types contributing to the sterile suburban sprawl engulfing so much of Wake County. When the scales begin to tip and unmanaged growth begins to choke the communities in question, is your plan to sell out, take your bundle of cash and move to the next "appealing area"?
