Does anyone think parking will be an issue today around 3pm? Trying to decide if I should tackle the traffic and parking or look into the Cary Town center shuttle.

Regarding the free parking near Carter Finley, the closest non-handicapped spot is about 1/4 mile from the gate. If those spots are full and you end up back near PNC, then it's at least a 1/2 mile. Then, once you get inside the gate, it's another hike to get to where the main exhibits and rides are. Honestly, the park-and-ride buses are way more convenient if you have a small child with you. They drop you off at the Hillsborough street gate where there's no walking needed. Plus your kid will probably enjoy the bus ride!

I have young kids and we do the PNC walk every time we go. Good to work off some of that fair gluttony.

The park and ride busses are the best way to get to the fair. They run often.

Agreed -- and they have the A/C blasting when needed.

Park at Carter Finley. My child and I walked, took 10 min. We road on a bike taxi on the way back. Talked them down to 3 dollars per person not the 5 they were asking. It was fun.

Thanks for all the replies folks! We ended up parking at PNC. Turns out they have a free tram that will drive you right over near the tunnel right by gate 8. It couldn’t have been easier!
