I do find it sorta funny that a Drive Shack is going to be located within a golf swing of the PNC arena... where one of the investors of TopGolf owns the Hurricanes.
Has anyone seen anything under construction in the Triangle, yet?
Off Trinity Road by I40 overpass. Feel sorry for the townhomes build right there. Now I understand why those neighborhoods around Cary Towne Center Mall so energetically opposed the proposed Topgolf around there. The thing is very imposing... even without all the lights turned on for night driving.
Oh yes, construction is well underway. Photo showing status as of a month-ish ago. Still looks pretty similar from a distance, as a lot of the work is on the interior at this point.

I actually inspected one a few weeks ago. WOW, it is right there! Made worse by power lines that mean you can’t really plant screening trees. Basically that size of photo above is what it looks like from the balconies. Can’t see any lights really. Are they integrated into the poles?
Yeah, while the geographical location is good, at CTC, that spot is terrible to be beside a neighborhood.
Say what you want, but TopGolf would be an absolute waste of the land at Cary Towne and totally incompatible with the neighborhood beside it. I'm definitely not a fan of NIMBYs and in real life have been attacked personally over my stance on something, but that seemed like a very reasonable decision. And since TopGolf has looked at at least 2 other properties since then but did not proceed, its only their fault if someone comes in under them and keeps them out.
Triangle Business Journal says that TopGolf is still looking at the Triangle. Anyone know where they are looking?
