My husband is trying to find a job in the Triangle area and doesn't know where to start? He has tried to find a recruiter, but has not had any luck finding one.
He sells commericial building material, but is open to other sales positions. He makes $100,000, but is willing to take a small pay cut!

He may be open to other sales positions but with companies laying people off and severely holding back their headcount, are they open to him? A lot of money goes into training and with your husband being from a different industry he would have to be trained on a new industry, the companies verticals, the client base, their solutions etc. There is a Stock Building Supply HQ in Brier Creek...could be a start if he is willing to stay in the industry but he will have to really learn to sell himself and his transferable skills being that this is a tech heavy market. Good luck.

A job in sales here starting at a 100k would be a stretch at best. Most Sales folks I know have started out around 40k and know some sell phizer drugs to the big hospitals and have been doing it for 20 plus and just make around a 100 k. i would do a salary search in his sales field for here because I think you will see more then a small pay cut. but do your research who knows.

A big factor is where you are moving from as well. 100k in NY for example is about 40k here.......plus how much of that was commission/bonuses? Depending on the company, the products being sold and the state of that industry are going to determine his salary start and options.
