I think they got a construction permit to increase power. Whether they've done it, can't say.

The physical channel assignments, as you've seen, are subject to change -- although change is very expensive, so don't expect it to happen often. All this complexity is hidden from the user, who sees only the virtual channels.... unless there is an antenna problem, and that's when knowing the physical channel can help.
Yeah, that posted was directed at twingles who was asking about CW. I should have quoted him to make it more clear. I see you sneaked in between us. Sorry for the confusion.

This morning 17 was dark on the newer tv (no converter box). Rescanned and now when I type in 17 it brings up 5. I'll rescan it again tonight and see what happens.

Was getting 17 fine in Cary since repack. Like 919 rep said, it just died in the middle of the news this morning. I think they have a problem.

Just did another rescan and 17 returned to the newer tv. The older tv (with converter box) still has problems with 17 along with 11.

Holy cow, I remember watching TV over the air (antenna) in 1953 and we had none of these problems

I had problems getting 17, 11, and 50 consistently before all of this...and now they come in perfectly. I'll take it.

Yes, and we could do that today if people were happy with a single low-resolution stream instead of a 19 megabit/second payload that carries multiple HD streams.

Hopefully channel 17 dying this morning is a sign they are converting from the temporary antenna over to the permanent one. My signal quality isn't great with the temp one, but should be fine with the permanent one that's more powerful.

Channel 50.1WRAZ OTA, "Judge Jerry" in full HD is really nice during this current news cycle. (3-4 PM)

Looked sorta real; nobody squinting at teleprompter, etc.

Uncompressed, full HD OTA is sorta tough on some of the local news anchors' tight shots. ;-)

e.g. Amanda lamb's eyelashes on WRAL live outdoor hits...whew!~
