How is the tech jobs scene in Raleigh, RTP area compared to Dallas burbs (Plano, Richardson, Irving, etc)?
Of late, lot of companies are moving to Dallas burbs from different states. What about Raleigh, NC?
My husband left his job in Richardson for one in the Triangle. I think it all depends on what you are doing and if there is an employer that wants to compensate you (to your liking) for what you do.
Dallas Metro has much bigger IT market than Triangle in my opinion. Dallas is massive .
I saw that a lot of companies moved to Dallas.
When I was reading last year, the scene was different. Raleigh was all around the news for one of the top IT destinations. Looks like Dallas took the spot? But I am wondering, if Raleigh/RTP is still a good choice for IT jobs, if not on par with Dallas burbs.
There seems to be a never ending stream of articles here in the Triangle about how local tech companies are struggling to fill their positions. At the same time, you aren't seeing companies doing much to entice workers (I was around in the late 90s when salaries were rising fast, signing bonuses were common, etc.). You hear of people looking for work that send in resumes and never hear back.
So, not exactly sure what the truth is. I *think* a lot of it is just that companies got spoiled by being in the drivers seat for awhile. They could cherry pick talent and they were much more likely to go with a candidate that had strong recommendations from existing employees before ever considering an unknown hire. That's all anecdotal based on what I've witnessed in places I've been.
ETA: was always in development, where the software skills were just a fraction of the skills needed. You always needed strong OS, Embedded, Networking, etc. skills too.

Thats not just in RTP/Raleigh. Its throughout US. Hear the same from all Big corp always to bring in more H1s, all the while, people that apply for positions, hardly hear back from HR. Irony.
