People that don't know this area have a funny idea on weather here, especially after the flukey year last year (record breaking). I hear from so many people that we only get 3 months of good weather, then it is blazing hot & humid for the rest of the year. Amazing how wrong someone's perception can be.

Let's see. The last time it was humid here was last October. That was 7 months ago and still counting. As far as heat, it has been pleasant for even longer than that. Hmmmmmmmmm....that equals much more of the year actually being nice around here than not. Not to mention that when it is hot and humid, the mornings and evenings are still very pleasant, so there are very few days in the year one cannot enjoy the outdoors.

WOW! This is much better than the blizzards they are still having in the upper Mid West.

I love the weather here. And when it starts to get too hot and humid there are plenty of things to do to cool off. Some great lakes close by (i just bought a kayak, so you'll know where i'll be when it's 90 out ). And there's always the option of heading to the beach or mountains for the weekend.

Anyone who says this about the weather here in the Triangle has obviously never lived in FL. That description really is what it's like in Miami, where I grew up. Except that in recent years the 3 months of good weather there has shrunk to about a month total, with the rest of the year being literally like living in a sauna.

The weather here is great! Even in the middle of the summer, the humidity is really not as bad as it could be. If someone else doesn't like it, I'll take it!

Hopefully, last August won't repeat. That month was BAD and I used to live in New Orleans.

I'm reserving my weather opinion until July-September. Coming from Southern California, I think I will probably have good reason to complain about the weather....but not much else!

I'm in and out of the air conditioned house to the air conditioned car to the air conditioned office and then back into the air conditioned car! Yes, it IS humid in August and I'd almost compare that month to Florida in June (parents lived there so I was there ALOT in June) but just when you think you can't bear it another day...we get a "cold" front!!!

So when you read the "average" temps...its almost hard to perceive.

Vicki

Agreed - I actually found it more difficult to tolerate here than in FL, but that's because in Florida I lived within walking distance of Tampa Bay, so there was always a nice breeze.

Personally I never thought the triangle had only 3 months of good weather...just that it didn't really have nicer weather longer than the Northeast...just at different times. In Raleigh it's really nice from mid March to mid May, and then again from late September to mid November (usually). With it being USUALLY uncomfortably hot and humid between mid may to mid September...and while not as cold and snowy as the north from Novmber thru the beginning of March, not exactly pleasant and warm either. You need the heat on a lot more durring winter in NC than you need AC in the summer in the North (atleast where i'm from). Never thought the weather in NC was horrible, just not so amazingly "better" (which is totally subjective and a different thing for everyone) than the north.

I'm in FL and I have to agree with miamiblue. It's hot about 8 months out of the year here. I'm hoping when we move there, the weather will be more suitable.
