My husband and I and our 2 standard Poodles are looking for a home in the central Piedmont area. We currently live in southern France near Montpellier.

I have several questions and apologize if my post covers areas already discussed.

We are looking for a home with at least an acre of land part of which we would want to fence in, near a city in a dog friendly area ,and want to have our own pool. We are retired thus commuting is not an issue. We would prefer not to move to a gated community or belong to an HOV.

Because we are so far away, we do not have the ability to make many visits to NC. This forum has been a great help in getting a better idea of your beautiful state. But it has also made it much more difficult to focus in on a particular town and/or county.

Given our situation, I would appreciate suggestions on perhaps 3/4 areas to focus our search on.

MC

It sounds to me like you would find exactly what you need close to the Chapel Hill/Durham area. I'd suggest Pittsboro or Hillsborough. There is some beautiful country out there and it would likely have more of a "homey" feel than any of the Raleigh suburbs. Good luck on your search! I love the diversification of NC

You don't mention price range, but my neighborhood has a house in it that may meet your needs.

It is a custom built 3500+ sq ft house, owned by empty-nesters. It is a 20 minute drive to downtown Raleigh or Cary. Most of the people in our neighborhood have dogs. . . we have 2. We have an HOA, but no fees, so the HOA isn't very strict. The people on all 3 sides of us are empty-nesters. This house also has its own pool and I believe a fenced-in back yard. About the only thing that may be a problem is that it only has .83 acres of land. PM me if you want more details.

Many available on our MLS ( multiple listing) site, if you can send me a note and narrow down selection by price range, we can send you to the right place to view them!

Default NC property

Hi! My husband and I have a large partially restored victorian just north of Durham nc should you be interest in a fixer upper. We are a 30 minute commute to Duke University. Our home sits on 3/4 of a acre with an electronic fence for our "standard" poodles. We are interested in relocating to the western part of the US. We also own the house next door which would be an ideal rental. If you are interested in looking at photo's I would be happy to forward you some. Thanks, the Z's
