Just returned from Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill. Around 8:30 they made everyone made everyone leave their seats and go into the concourse. We then got to wait and wait as the weather was wild and there was a lot of thunder and lightning. They didn't want people to leave as power lines and trees were down on the campus. They postponed the fireworks for an hour but a lot of people seemed to be leaving. My husband and one of my daughters went off to get the car and just after they left there were rumors that the fireworks were going to go off even though it was still raining and there was still lightning in the area. So we were treated to a wonderful firework display with the occasional bolt of lightning to make it more exciting.

The stadium had no emergency lighting in the halls, and people jammed in. It was a little disconcerting, to say the least.
There was no Public Address announcement, or crowd control effort, and while most folks were great, some people got a little edgy.

Really seemed like a pretty odd and irresponsible handling of what easily could have turned into major safety issues.
We arrived late to the park (or outside it). Missed Costner's band, unfortunately. But heard the yells. Then, yes, the sky opened up and all went black. We were out and in the building just beyond the outfield. Having parked in the downtown area to avoid traffic and crowds, I ran back to the car in what turned out to be a big soaking for me (security allowed my Caligirl to hang out inside where it was dry). Though it was cool, too, all the excitement from Mother Nature. At least it wasn't a chilly rain.

What time did you get out of there? Even after the soaking, I was hoping it was just a passing twenty minute storm (didn't turn out that way). Being drenched, I actually thought it would be cool to hang out in park in the pouring rain. LOL.
