My husband and I are planning on relocating to Raleigh/Cary area from Las Vegas - we are originally from NY. We have seen two townhouse communities we are considering and wonder if anyone has any thoughts regarding the good and/or bad of these communities. The first is Westover Park in Cary being built by Centex Homes. The second is Harrington Pointe in Raleigh, also by Centex Homes. We are primarily interested in learning about the immediate surrounding areas. We appreciate any comments. Thanks! Janie.

Westover is close to RTP and is in this pocket of morrisville that is definitely developing (close to kits creek, twin lakes, etc) so there are new grocery stores coming up, restaurants, etc. I don't know if that development is in the airplane noise path, but it would be disclosed to you if it was.

Harrington pointe is also nice, close to 540, but you could get to RTP the "back" way on hickory grove to acc blvd (where brier creek is located) to glenwood (highway 70) to alexander. So, it is also a convenient location! You would be very close to brier creek, and also to things in north raleigh. The only concern I have about the neighborhood is the back section seems to be a little close to 540, so that might be something you would want to check out!

Anyhow, I think the areas have different feels, but definitely have positives!

Leigh

Thanks for the quick response. You are very right about Harrington being close to the 540 - we noticed that too. I am also a little concerned because we found out that a 2 story elementary school is being built next door. Our realtor did mention airplane noise as a problem in Harrington Pointe, but not in Westover. Is there any difference between being in Cary or Morrisville? I am not sure which town Westover is in - it seems close to border. My husband and I really like the Raleigh area - but it seems each development we see has positives and negatives - very confusing for us. When we moved to Las Vegas, the areas seemed very clearly defined between where you would and would not want to live. Thanks for your input.

One reason the Triangle is a desirable place to live, there are few truly undesirable places vs. desirable locations, IMO.
If you are looking at the Centex product, you also might consider Olde Raleigh. Not Centex, but fantastic location, IMO.
