Do any one know of any apartments that don't ask for back ground for all residents? I and my wife along with her brother is trying to move into a 3 br apartment. Her brother has a record so we'll scare to pay a fee just to be told "no he can't live here"

I could be wrong but I thought they only did background/credit checks on the people on the actual lease. So if you and your wife lease the apartment and don't put his name on it, you should be ok with that. I'm sure someone else here can confirm that, though as I'm not 100% sure.

I do background and credit checks on all adults in both my rentals. (sorry, no current vacancies.)
And if rent is to be shared, all adults are jointly and severally responsible for the rent, so I do credit checks and get them all on the lease.

Try a private owner. Not everyone is that thorough. Try craigslist, or the newspaper.
