Hi,

Still doing my homework before moving to Cary. What is the most common type of utility for heat? We have electric heat, which isnt that common around her, oil is. In the more suburban/city areas it is gas (forced or baseboards). The new housing aroung here are being built with Hydro-air. Its seems that many home in Cary are using forced air, which isnt very healthy unless they are connected to a buit in humidifier. In my previous residence I had has gas with water baseboard hearting which was great.
Any feedback appreciated.
Thanks

Most common heat is forced air.
Either gas or heat pump.

You will find you will not have a dry air problem other than a couple of months in the winter, and you need the forced air for air conditioning.
Hot water baseboard is great heat, but it is rare, as it is an additional expense since the central ductwork is needed for AC anyway.

Like anywhere else, the house will need less climate control if it is buit tight and well-insulated.

Also keep in mind that the weather is usually not as cold here as it is "up north". My parents own a older house here and have heated with electric heat (ceiling and baseboard)for the last 34 years. Last summer they put in a new heat pump and other than getting used to the "not hot" air coming out of the vents they have been very happy with the new system.
I would say that the electric heat pump is the most common way of heating here.
