Hi all! My son is turning 12 this month and since we are new to the area, I would love some ideas from some of you. We are in Clayton, and would like to stay as close as possible. Frankie's of Raleigh looked great but it is a 40 minute ride from here and we would like to keep the distance under 30 minutes. Besides the bowling alley and the skating park in Clayton, any additional ideas??

I was thinking Rush Hour Karting, but I'm not sure if kids as young as 12 are permitted to drive.

Team Building, Company Outings, Go Karts - Rush Hour Karting

Update: "RushHour Karting also offers open racing times for aspiring junior kart racers. Junior racers must be at least 8 years of age and at least 48” tall to operate the junior go-karts. A parent or guardian must sign a release form (http://www.rushhourkarting.com/policies_procedures.html#release - broken link) for racers less than 18 years of age. Due to limited junior kart and session availability, we ask you to contact us (http://www.rushhourkarting.com/contact.html - broken link) to schedule your junior open racing session. "

We had a bowling party for my son when he was about that age. Not sure if there is a bowling alley in Clayton.

My boys liked the Laser Tag places .
Camping at Falls or the backyard with
friends would be fun.
By 12 we quit trying to do large groups.
Mine picked 2-3 friends for an activity.

Default Frisbee golf

You might try the disc golf course at Zebulon park if each kid has a disc golf frisbee. You really only need on one disc frisbee. If kids don't have any, you can usually buy a set at Target. Besides the cost of the frisbees which last for ever, all disc golf courses are free! A putter isn't really necessary. There's also a course in Knightdale, and I've heard there is one near East Wake middle.

I think they would love Laser Tag or Paint Ball. I agree with an earlier poster to take a small group. The cost can add up.

Adventure landing on Capital is also fun but still a hike. Are the movies an option?

Default party

Pump it up! We went to a young gentleman's birthday party there and it was a blast for the kids and adults. It has those huge inflatable things kids love to bounce around inside of. Near Brier Creek.

You may be talking about Frankie's off of 40. Great place for 12 year olds, last time i been there. Bring your wallet if you go. A group of kids screams for the movies and ice cream after.
