We're coming to visit in Raleigh and we're looking for a solid recommendation for a GREAT STEAKHOUSE. No chains please. Trendy "30 somethings" place but still a traditional steak house.

Creamed spinach anyone?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Sullivan's in downtown Raleigh comes to mind almost immediately. Is it a chain? There are other great steak places like The Peddler, but I would not describe them as "trendy"

Well, of course the Angus Barn is the "classic" steak restaurant for this area, been around for 45 years, and it's right by the airport. Definitely one of a kind.

Sullivan's is a chain. Fortunately, we have some good local steak houses. Capital City Chophouse is a local chain - the original is in Greensboro, but its a great restaurant (great salad bar). There's also the Angus Barn, which is local.

I continually hear great things about Peddler's (off of Hollyridge on Glenwood close to O'malley's by the terrrible Econolodge which is thee worst hotel in the world and where we stayed our first visit) but I digress . . Peddler's is worth checking out.

Angus barn is a little pricey IMO... but good steak. Definitely fits the profile of "local" and not chain-like at all. Oh, and it really is a a big fancy barn. Not sure if it was originally used as an actual barn; but it sure looks like it!

Flemings at crabtree is a great steakhouse. Yes it is a chain but for a trendy 30 something its great. It's not stuffy like other steakhouses. Plus they have great creamed spinach!!!

Chop House in Cary is excellent. Sullivan's downtown is also very good.
