Can anyone recommend a nice family neighborhood with wooded lots in Cary?

Is price a consideration? How about size, age, lot size, etc?

In many of the newer subdivisions, they just mow down everything green and then start with bare clay

Default Wooded neighborhoods

Under 600,000 and prefer home owner's association and perhaps a community pool. Prefer not to be in a golf community, as we do not play golf. Anything built less than 20 years ago is fine - does not have to be new. Any advice you have would be great.

Wooded lots in Cary? Good luck. Like the previous poster said they pretty much mow everything down and start with bare ground to build. Sometimes if it's an old tree or something at the entrance-way of a subdivision they'll leave it alone but it's rare. Anyone remember the tree that was at Cary town center?, they built a fence around it to preserve it...lightning eventually got it.

In that price range, have you considered a larger wooded acre in Wake Forest?

The older neighborhoods of Cary are very wooded but they are typically in the $200s and $300s.

Default Wooded Neighborhoods

Does Chapel Hill have more wooded neighborhoods? I've heard that - not sure if it's true. I'd prefer to be on the Cary/Chapel Hill side rather than the Wake Forest side for work commute reasons.

McGregor Downs, McGregor West, Lochmere, Lochmere Birklands, Wessex, Normandie, Preston Village.

Some have golf courses, without that being the complete focus of the community.
The Preston name goes far beyond the golf courses to several neighborhoods.

Default Wooded Neighborhoods

Thank you for the detailed info regarding Preston. I saw several homes that I liked online in Preston w/wooded lots, but was afraid we'd not be able to make any friends there bc we are not golfers or tennis players. We are more hikers and kayakers, but like the idea of walking with our kids to a community pool rather than have to drive to "one more activity."

You might also include in your search Cambridge@ Regency & Wyndfall @ Regency. Wyndfall does have some that are under $600K, but Cambridge is in that price range or a little lower.
Mike is right also about Lochmere, Lochmere Birklands,McGregor Downs.
