Just like most people said, wife went to court, showed registration, and got "that's it". Thanks for all the replies.

Funny all these people "in the wrong" or "you goofed" when its basically extortion. Give us money or face the consequences. If it wouldn't keep me from getting a new license I'd probably go to court to keep from getting a failure to appear and/or warrant and then walk out after talking to the judge without paying.

I agree with most of the others here; If everything is current now and you have documentation to back it up, more than likely this will be dismissed. I can offer some additional advice for court. Show up on time, dress properly and TURN OFF YOUR PHONE. I have seen people turned away for any and all of these. Wake County requires men to tuck in shirts... let's just say I drive alot...

I went a few weeks ago and they immediately dismissed me. Didn't even want to look at my proof!

Did you have to pay the court cost for the dismissed ticket? My wife just got ticketed for expired registration. I goofed up on the registration renewal. She is fretting going to court

Default slight twist on this topic - Got inspection + registration renewal online, but no sticker yet

I have a slight twist to this...

I was informed while getting my oil change in Concord, NC... that my tag had expired, and so I needed an inspection + registration renewal. I quickly had them take care of the inspection, and prayed to not get pulled over on the way home (seems trivial when you were expired for approxiamately 5 months, but I was nervous).

Got the registration done, (this is a Saturday), so the new sticker should arrive sometime in the next week or 2. I printed the confirmation information after the renewal.

Now, until the sticker arrives, can (or will) a cop or trooper ticket me if they pull me over? I am also going on vacation in SC for the week. Will the SC troopers and police pull an NC registered vehicle over for expired tags?

Regards,
Mark Waldrop

Yes, they can pull you over. Just show them your confirmation letter and you'll be fine.

dude, get the degistration from the DMV, then goto a police station and ask an officer to write it off as corrected.when you get to court, it will be nothing more than a 'fix-it' ticket and probably wont cost you a dime!!
never try to 'out think' or be more slick than the judge, they really take offence to that, theres nothing you can say to him he hasnt heard at million times yesterday alone..dont act like a lawyer when its your first time in any kind of trouble, just be real.when you owe a fine, man up and pay it will make you look much better to people than looking like a fool.
dont sweat a simple ticket,if you cant get the car registered for whatever reason, you CAN goto DMV and file it non-op and then show that to the court.
good luck!!
