I use Harris Lake at the Nuclear plant. Very clean, no stumps, deep virtually all the way to the shores, only 5000 acres or so, but rarely gets very crowded. It helps it is only 5 minutes from my house, but I cannot envision having any more fun on one of the larger lakes.

Wouldn't Okeechobee be the largest...by a lot?

Good call spiderman. I had to go do some googling myself to see. It's so big, they only say how many square miles it is, not how many acres. (It's 740 sq miles which is 473600 acres) almost 10 times bigger than Kerr Lake.

Yeah, Harris is really nice, the only really clear water I've seen around here other than a clear pond here and there. Haven't been there for awhile, is the milfoil still bad? I got it tangled around my prop so bad that I had to get it off of there to go anywhere.

hi all I have just fallen upon this whilst looking for somewhere for my husband and I to waterski during our visit to North Carolina in November. We are coming across from England to visit our son who is at Fayetteville Academy doing Soccer. Could you please recommend somewhere closeby that my husband and I can go for some Water Ski coaching....we both ski recreationally here in England and just thought it would be fun (& warmer!!) to have a go out there. My e-mail address is kay.walsh@blueyonder.co.uk we would be most grateful for any help we can get. Thank you!

Unfortunately, it's not that much warmer! The average high temperature here is 61 F (16 C) and average low is 42 F (6 C) in November, so most folks don't water ski then. That's pretty similar to October in London.

I found this by searching for ski instruction near Fayetteville (which approximately 1 1/2 hours from Raleigh by car), but they don't operate past October. Perhaps you can go on a future visit. Water Ski Training, Wakeboarding and more on Private Lakes at Coble Ski School

Lake Magnolia was built just for water skiing and is just outside of Raleigh. It has a slalom course, a jump ramp and a community ski boat. You must own a lot there, but it provides perfect water ski conditions, anytime, in your own back yard.
