I've said it before and I'll say it again, sure we're feeling the affects of the recent recession in the Triangle but we could be in a whole lot worst shape overall. And Cary ranks in it's own world in terms of demograhics, especially for NC standards.

Thanks for sharing! I always enjoy reading GOOD NEWS! There was a study done and it said if the news is always BAD, you shouldn't listen to more than 30 minutes per day or you run the risk of becoming depressed! Duh!!!

Just be aware that this is for '08--before the recession really hit hard here. At least 8 months of that year were chugging along fine everywhere. I'd love to see what it looked like for Sept08-Aug09.

Right. The recession of 2009 has hit the Triangle really bad. I think we would not rank all that well now.

The same recession has hit the rest of the state/nation just as hard if not harder in some areas. I'll bet we'll rank about the same state and nationally for 2009.

Your group in FL must have been on meds.

Here's an example ie the unemployment rates as of last month. Note that NC is the 10th WORST in the country......you may note FL is ahead of us (if only just). The Triangle is a bit better but not dramatically, hovering right around the nat'l average.

Unemployment is not the total picture, every one of my FL bothers was sporting an average 30K loss on their home values. One guy was down more then 3X that.

No but it's one of the most important. Better home value doesn't matter much if you can't pay the mortgage.

Also I don't think home values here are exactly skyrocketing, but couldn't offhand find values by state or area. Anyone?

You wouldn't say that if you were looking for a job.
