As an other poster wrote, "At home" but when an Italian can't eat at home they eat at

1. Nono and Nona's!
2. Uncle Guido's and Aunt Caroline's.
3. My Cousin Vinny's.

4. Repeat home again!

Glad to hear Fratello's has developed a following. I've had dinner there twice and the food was good. The cussing from the kitchen sure sounded like authentic Italian to me too ...

La Volta is owned by the same family that owns Vics. I would wait a few weeks though before trying it - they are working out some staffing issues which has also impacted the service at Vics.

The lobster stuffed ravioli at Picolla Italia (Cameron Village) is one of my favorite all-time entres. Ooops, I'm an irishman so take my recommendation with a pinch of oregano.

Tosca in Durham is decent. I like Maggiano's, I know they have a small chain but they do a great job! And for standard NY or basic Italian, Amedeo's makes everything from scratch. I worked there when I was in school. Two Guys, are they still there? Always had a great eggplant parm - again, like fast food Italian but very good and from scratch.

Just an FYI...Maggianos is bigger than a little chain, having over 40 locations across the country. They're owned by the same company that runs Chili's and On the Border.
