I'm not sure if you have chosen your major, but a business degree would be great background as you will be running your own small business as a real estate agent. Finance would be good too if you wanted to work the commercial or investor side. If your school offers a degree in real estate, you could consider a double major - but I would not focus only on real estate. Have a back up plan just in case.

Get involved in as many groups as you can.

If you're a believer, start getting involved in church.
The Rotary Club
Gun club
Vegan Club
Political Organization
Volunteer as much as possible

Keep peoples names, numbers, email

When you become a REALTOR, these connections will be invaluable!!!

But...if you join organizations, you should do so because you believe in the mission and feel that you can contribute--not because you feel that you may personally benefit. That would be rather shallow and self-serving...and it would probably be very noticeable to others.
