Listing agreements vary from state to state so yours is probably different than what mine uses. You state you have four more months to go. Are you sure there is not a way to cancel earlier? You call it a contract, are you sure it's not an agreement?

I have not seen a contract or agreement that does not give an out in the event of something bad going on. The tightest I've seen is where you have to try another listing agent from the same firm before totally abandoning the firm. Check your contract/agreement wording carefully. (I have to re read whether this agent is the actual lister anyway).

HUH?? What's your difference between a written agreement and a contract? (Inquiring minds want to know!) "Agreement" is just a softer word.

First of all, the advice on here is terrible. You're going to blast a video around social media over kids jumping on a bed and messing with remotes? :rolls eyes: give me a break.

It is awful and horrible and extremely rude.

I think an email -- not a phone call -- is in order. You need to document what happened and what's unacceptable. You don't need to scorch the earth.

Second of all, you slip in 4 posts later that the listing agent is "a family member." Is it your sister in law? An aunt? A cousin? I mean, call me crazy but maybe that's why she felt more relaxed. Have her kids been to your house before? Are they RELATED to you?

That's a totally different story.

Is it unprofessional and rude? Yes. Is it time to go balls to the wall and publicly humiliate someone? No.

I find cameras in the house and spying on people creepy. Is this common practice? I've never heard of it. Just mho.

Oh, no...
The firm should make complete amends, apologize, and confirm that it will never happen again. That is non-negotiable.
IF that is not immediately forth-coming, it is great advice to go to the state licensing board with the complaint. This is an agent who needs retraining or to be stopped in her tracks.
(All assuming that the OP has accurately related the incident.)

And, the buyers agent who brought the marauders is not the family member. The listing agent is the family member, messed up as that may be.

And, yes, people monitor with cameras. It IS a bit creepy, but incidents like the OP relates are adequate justification.
Anyone visiting a property should know that they are in someone else's home and deport themselves accordingly. The agent failed miserably by any measure.

Ohhhhhh yes, okay my bad! That makes sense.

Okay so then -- what are these cameras!!? Like a nanny cam??

I have the opposite problem -- I can't get a realtor to actually have showings on our house! At this point, I'd almost welcome marauding buyers! We needed to sell our house like yesterday.

Our LISTING is my husband's sister. A BUYER'S agent from another company brought her clients here.....we think they were related because of the filiarity on the video. I have NEVER met these morons in my life, nor do I want to. They were obviously lookie loos and a complete waste of our time.

Security cameras, front and back....and a nanny cam in our living room to watch our giant Labrador when we're away, as she kept setting off our alarm system and we had no idea why. We own the home. We're entitled to have cameras in every room if we like. The only people who might take issue are folks who want to snoop or steal, which does happen. ....I'm a,realist.

Absolutely. I want this listing agent gone. We ate getting no quality real estate companies viewing our home. It's all these weird fly by night type "companies" who buy and flip foreclosures....we are NOT in foreclosure. Or we are getting these rental companies looking to lowball. It's the strangest thing. My SIL is not an agent who normally sells occupied homes.....it's all very cryptic. She is involved somehow with "investors " who buy short sales and foreclosures, fix them up, and sell or rent them for waaaaaay more than their original investment. We're on the MLS, but is there a way we can only be viewed by these shady companies? She's extremely defensive when I bring up that we aren't getting agents from reputable organizations. We have a showing tomorrow with a guy from EXIT, something or other.....anyone know anything about this company?

I can think of a few reasons why the husband and kids were with her and didn't remain in the car. It's hot in Florida in September. I wouldn't want to sit in a car or wait outside. Still, no excuse for the behavior.

Perhaps you're only getting showings from investors because your SIL has a reputation for listing those types of properties. Agents notice that kind of thing and associate an agent with a certain type of listing.

The time of year you listed also may explain the types of agents that are showing your property. In many places the market slows a bit in August and September for family type houses. Families buy earlier than that so the kids can start school in the new district. Investors are more likely to look for properties year round.
