Family/Locally-owned businesses in Real Estate

My real estate agent works for (IC of course) a small boutique agency and gets headhunter calls from the big brokerages weekly. Many of them have an "MLM" component to them. There are pros and cons to both models, and within both models some agencies are better than others. As far as the networking is concerned, there is BNI and other networking groups that have larger reach and isn't limited to just other realtors.
