I am in the final stages of settling my parents estate and will be able to fulfill one of my life goals, moving closer to the beach.....I know I can't live directly, but within 30-45 minutes is good.

I have 2 different cities in mind, both of which I've played tourist and visited.

I am considering contacting a real estate professional in each, taking a weekend and asking them to show me around. Is this out of line?

I know it will be September at the earliest, probably November, before I'm able to make the move. But I'd like to get an introduction to each area and then go back make my decision.

I've looked at real estate in both, and have an idea of pricing and areas, but I may be way off base.

Would I wasting their time?

No, you are not out of line.
Just be upfront about your status, and they will appreciate it.

I agree with Mike. When I have been on vacation in areas that have a substantial tourist trade I have toyed with idea of living in "paradise". Seems like some Realtors actively market to that niche, Some will even go so far to have contact sites set-up for you to pre-register -- just search on the area you are considering and I would bet you could do some "pre viewing" that might save you and them some time...
