I live in Georgia and recently had my home listed for sale through MLS to ensure that it gains exposure to buyers agents (selling FSBO)... Well, the other day I had an agent tell me that I am hard pressed to get realtors to notice my listing on MLS as this is a channel used for lower priced homes in our area and that FMLS is a better option... I find it hard to believe this is true but want to be covered both ways... Is there truly a difference between MLS and FMLS?
Being listed in the FMLS and MLS gives you more exposure. Some agents only use FMLS when doing searches and some agents have no access to FMLS. I use both for all my listings.
Some agents just happen to learn on one or the other but most good agencies are in both.
Mls charges small monthly fee to real estate company and used more in outlying area.
FMLS charges the agent a portion of the commission at closing but more agent use this in the metro area
Im a realtor, and in both PLUS ELEVEN OTHER WEBSITES!
I agree with curbappeal, it's a matter of preference and most agencies do use both. It is also important to do other forms of internet marketing. You have to find some one who is creative in his or her marketing efforts.
Both FMLS and GAMLS have there ups and downs for REALTORS. As a homeowner trying to sell your home you would I mean should insist that your home be listed in both systems to have the most exposure!
Thanks CurbAppeal, avalugg & galightman for the feedback...
I made arrangements today to get listed on both MLS and FMLS.. the broker said it should show up in the system within 24-48hrs. Hopefully I should start to see more traffic now
