Hi,
I am a complete newbie in US Real Estate. I will be coming next year in US for few months and would like to purchase a home for my parents.

I was seeing zillow and found this listing

Cumberland Ave, Tampa, FL 33602 - Zillow

It is a condo of 1600 sq ft in tampa...zillow estimate is around $170k..but it is for sale for only $2400...why is that? is that a pricing error?

I have seen 10-15 homes like this...i mean zillow estimate is way high and sale price is low...

Look on real-estate.com and craigslist. I have found zillow unreliable.

Merry Christmas. Jules

Keep in mind that there are many factors which can cause a low price, such as a bad neighborhood and an "as is" sale where much expensive work is needed.

Or a typo
The condo for sale at $2,400 has to be a typo or a bait and switch just to get phone leads. It shows the monthly mortgage payments at eight ($8.00) dollars per month.

It might be that it is also for rent, even though $2400 per month might be high.

The condo in the OP's link from Zillow does is not listed. There are no active condos for sale in that community listed under $300,000 in the Florida MLS. Could be a rental as previously stated.

It's most likely a rental and they're asking $2,400/month for rent. A lot of rentals don't get listed properly and they show up as "For Sale" when the price obviously doesn't match a sale price.

Probably this one for rent. Both say they are on the 17th floor and the largest 2 bedroom floor plan.
