I am just trying to learn how the historical information is being tracked after a sale is done.
I could only see sale price on Redfin.com or MLS website. But how do I find out the listing price prior to the sale price? Is it possible (even via paper mean) or is it erased from the database?

Unless you want to bother a realtor who listed the house previously and might still have a file, don't really see why anyone would keep it. Nothing "official" about an asking price...it may have little to do with value either. It's a hope, not a record.

Most MLSs retain listing archives for many years.
You can usually see pricing and history in the MLS.

Yes, you probably need an agent/MLS member to access that data.

Realtor.com shows the price history, which often includes the original list price and subsequent reductions.

We got that info when we had access to MLS during our search for a new home. It was interesting to watch the listing of friends from church; they had a beautifully-furnished larger McMansion that started out at $630K (VERY high for this area) and ended up selling for $100K less.

Yes it does show property history. I just checked on my own home and it does show the listing price, sales price and previous two sales prices.

On an open listing realtor.com will usually show all the property history prices including changes as well as the property tax history.

You can get it from a number of sources, but it’s a worthless data point.

Nowhere but from MLS will one see financial concessions in the transactions.
And, that is only from MLSs that require financial concessions to be entered by listing agents.

Type the address into the zillow search bar. It will often show the listing history.

Realtor.com gives property and listing history information.

I bought my own house nearly five years ago; the last three sales plus the price adjustments made by the previous owner while it was on the market are still listed on the site. The same is also true of the last two houses that I sold.

Our county's online real estate portal also allows access to prior home purchase prices.
