Default Is universal property and casualty insurance a good homeowners insurance co ?

I got a quote that seemed to low to be true.....for a 249K house built in 1996 here in South Florida....I got a quote of 1,989 dollars. The agent told me it is through universal casualty and property insurance. Thanks for any insight..

I checked out the name on A. M. best ratings, they give ratings for all insurance companies, and I could not find the name. The closest I could find was universal casualty company and they had a rating of B+ but a negative outlook. Basically thats not good.

dhwilliams is on a distinguished road
Universal Property & Casualty is NOT rated by AM Best. I just spoke to their Fort Lauderdale office and confirmed this. In SoFla we are stuck with Citizens or a group of start up companies that may or may not be around after a major storm. I write insurance for a living and I am in the same "boat" as you and I am always looking for a better deal but there are not many available. Email me if you need. Dave.... dhwinc @ bellsouth . net
