my DH just got home from mountain biking with blood on his face, swollen fore arm (size of golf ball under his skin) and other hand covered up. he wont let me see. says probably broke his knuckle, deep gash on it. small bump on head. refuses to go to the hospital. stopped to buy first aid stuff and is in shower now cleaning off. had helmet on but says he blacked out for a few seconds. "remembers dirt in his face, then his friend asking if he was alright." landed 10 feet from the rock he hit. Our hospital here is sooooo slow, that's why he refuses to go. I'm most worried about the concussion. Tex or anyone, suggestions??? oh, we're supposed to go to the amusement park tomorrow, and he's insisting we are. what to do???

Well I don't care if you have to drag him kicking and screaming, but get him to the ER then be a total if you have to that he needs to be checked out NOW. Blacking out NOT good! and amusement park tomorrow? NOT But blacking out is not good and might just be minor concussion or no concussion at all, but still . . . please try and force him to go to ER - even if his friend has to help you drag him there. Do you have a doctor who takes week-end on calls that you could ring up and see if he could help expedite and check him out? Prayers being sent your way.

Stoy,

If it was my dh, I would be on the lookout for signs of concussion, such as sleepiness, or nausea. If he develops a headache, just bear in mind the whole subdural hematoma situation that has recently been in the news. If you catch it fast, you can prevent any problems, but if you let it go, the outcome can be devastating. I don't mean to scare you, but men will often try to shrug things off, as they want to appear stoic. I'm so glad to hear he was wearing a helmet. Please let us know how he is doing. Hugs.

we're back from ER, not that we saw a Dr. i told him only way to go tomorrow was if Dr said it was ok. So we go but the waiting rm was so full people were standing. so he refused to stay. says he didnt black out, that things happened so fast. insists he's fine and not to worry. had brand new helmet on, too. he's cleaning both knuckles and im supposed to splint them for him.

Oh yes, we have real estate transfers in the paper. The only ones which seem to sell are in the low hundreds. When we renewed last time, our listing our agent had to go back a whole year to find ONE sold comp in our price range. I believe it was an 8 mile radius.

MEN! Gotta luv em, but they're strange creatures, aren't they?
One good thing about living out here in the boonies is that we always have the local ER all to ourselves.
