So my wife takes some corn, peels it, rinses it off and then takes a friggin' chomp out of it. No cooking or anything. I must admit, the primal nature of it was a bit of a turn on (must...stay...on...topic).

OK, what I mean is that, I tried it too and was flabergasted. It tasted wonderful. I have eaten my corn completely raw since that wonderful day (and night, he he).

Makes me think, is corn really worth cooking since it tastes so good in its raw form? Do others eat it raw?

I have never tried it raw but the next time I buy fresh corn, I'll give it a try. From there, I'll decide if I want to cook it and put butter on it.

Best sweet corn I've ever had was when checking irrigation wells and change'n gates. Grab an ear, wash off in the water, and eat. It's best after a long, hot day.

Grilled in husk is also really good. Just a lil butter and salt. mmmmmmmmm

Steamed in the microwave or on the Grill. I never boil it. Put some butter and salt and it's good to go.

I use the linked recipe, very easy and reliable way to roast corn. It uses the oven, for those of us without access to a grill.

I love to roast corn on the cob in the husk, on the grill. If not grilling out, I'll microwave it in. This is soooooo easy...

I literally just throw the whole ears of corn, in the husk, into the microwave on a plate. If the ears are too long just trim off the stalk and tassles with a chef's knife, as needed.

For my microwave I give 1 ear 2 minutes, 2 ears 3 minutes, etc. Adjust for your power and taste.

Then I wrap the ears (careful, they're hot) in a bath towel to hold the heat in for a couple of minutes while I get everything else together and on plates. When ready for the corn, just strip the husk back in a nice smooth movement and all the silk comes with it!

Then I serve it in one of several styles that are all good.

Good Old Traditional: slathered with butter, dusted with a little fresh pepper, and then sprinkled with a little crunchy sea salt

Southwest Style: squeeze fresh lime on, then butter, pepper, salt as above, and finally a little chili powder.

Elote (Mexican style): All of the above plus mayonnaise or sour cream. Lemon pepper instead of plain pepper is good. Lemon mayonnaise instead of plain mayonnaise if you can find it.

Im gonna try it, but the thing that I wondered is raw corn isnt hard to digest? My favorite way to eat it is when its wrapped in foil and put on the bbq until nice warm and tender and then i put lots of butter and salt. I have had it at fairs with a mix of sugar and salt whoch is pretty good but i prefer straight salt

We have eaten corn raw since I was old enough to eat corn off the cob, we also eat it steamed, microwaved, grilled, boiled, canned, frozen, fresh. Just like every other vegetable we eat.

Sugar used to be needed with some of the old starchier corn varieties, but with the newer super-sweet varieties it's overkill. I'd at least taste the corn first.

Also, watch for overcooking, and when boiling corn never salt the water, because that toughens it. The fact that you can eat corn raw should be a good indication that not much cooking is needed. Here's the method my dad used when I was growing up in the corn fields of the midwest...

Boil a big pot of water over high heat with lots of room for the corn you want to cook. Remove the husks and clean off the silk. Add the corn to the pot, which will kill the boil. When it comes to a boil again (about 3 minutes) the corn is done. Quickly remove the corn from the water with tongs, and drain and serve.

Easy peasy!
