Never had them. Do they taste different than the bigger chickens?? I am intrigued to try them because Ina Garten was making them stuffed. with a cornbread stuffing.

I just purchased some today from the market since it was on sale. The meat is tender since it is a smaller bird. I cut it in half with kitchen shears and placed it in a brine. I will grill them tomorrow.

Not gamy at all. It taste like chicken It is a nice presentation and if its on sale I will buy them but otherwise, I don't think you could taste the difference between that and a regular chicken.

A cornish hen typically commands a higher price per pound than typically sold chickens, despite a shorter growing span of 28 to 30 days, as opposed to 42 or more for regular chicken.

I find them sweeter and more tender than mature broiler chickens. They aren't gamey at all since they are basically just immature chickens.

It's not going to taste 'gamey' since it is a domesticated chicken, despite the name. They are also NOT all hens, it can be a mix of gender.

I agree. They taste just like chicken, not gamey at all and they make a nice presentation when having guests over. I remember years ago they weren't that expensive and I would make them often. Now I see them for over $10 for a package of 2 and they're pretty puny.

I love these. I soak them in brine overnight, usually mostly water, spices, salt, and vinegar. I stuff them with wild rice stuffing, criss cross 2 strips of bacon over the breast and some ground pepper. Then bake. It's simple and a pretty presentation. A good company dinner and everyone gets their own bird. I usually make soup with the leftovers and pan drippings.

Good chicken meat. Way better than the regular chicken.
