I just had my first experience with Old Bay, which was much spicier than I had anticipated. I LIKED the result, I was just surprised. I used it to coat some snapper filets and oven-fried them . They came out so well I'll be doing it again. Anyone have any recipe favorites using this product?

I have never used it but have heard good things about it. Next time that I think about it while shopping, I will look at the list of ingredients and the price. Depending on the results of those two criteria, a decision will be made regarding purchase.

I'm from Maryland. Old Bay goes on everything.
I'm eating Lucky Charms right now with Old Bay seasoning.

Just kidding.

Maybe.

I use it for shrimp boil (cocktail). This recipe is on the package. Water, Vinegar and Old Bay. Bring to a boil, add your shrimp, cover and cook for a few minutes and you are done. I use an ice bath to stop the cooking. Then I refrigerate the shrimp for a while. It is delicious with you favorite sauce or garnishments. I add pico de gallo, hot sauce, avocado and eat with tortilla chips.

Place Costco Salmon burgers in bottom of glass pan, put one pat of butter and old bay on each burger. Cover patties with and fill dish with your fave frozen veggies; add a few pats of butter on top of veggies and cover all with more OB. You want the salmon buried under it all. Cover with foil and cook on 350 for 1 hour. So good.

Baltimore native here. The Old Bay can also shows a recipe for crab cakes, but it has changed from the original recipe and now includes mustard powder. I prefer the original recipe that used to be on the can:

2 slices white bread (crusts removed)
1 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp dried parsley flakes
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp Old Bay
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
1 lb crab meat
enough milk to moisten bread

Break bread into small pieces into a bowl. Moisten with milk (not too much). Add other ingredients. Be gentle with the crab meat so you don't break up the lumps of meat too much. Form into 6 cakes. Fry or broil.

Herr's potato chips with Old Bay are great.
