For a quick dinner, or breakfast, I like to make this. For dinner- use ground beef,
for breakfast-use pork sausage.

S.O.S.
1/2 lb. pork sausage roll or 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
salt, pepper

Brown meat of your choice, either sausage or ground beef in butter until brown.
Sprinkle flour over and stir and flour until evenly browned. Slowly add milk and stir constantly with a wire whisk until thickened. Add salt, pepper, red pepper flakes. Serve over toast.

* May also add some sauteed chopped onion,& chopped green bell pepper to the ground beef mixture. Also a couple of slices of velveeta cheese to simmer in the mixture is great too!

Default Someone doesn't like cream soups in recipes...

How far are these cream soups from your basic gravy or white sauce? Besides, perhaps, not containing flour?

Just wondering...

I don't see why they couldn't be interchangeable. Now you have me wondering if the jarred or canned gravy would work, when the pantry mysteriously makes my soups disappear :-) Worth trying. Hmmm.

But cream of ** soups contain flour - Water, Mushrooms (12%), Wheat Flour, Canola Oil, Maize Starch, Salt, Cream (From Milk), Milk Solids, Soy Protein, Sugar, Flavours (Nature Identical and Natural (Contain Milk Products and Wheat)), Yeast Extract, Food Colour (Caramel III (From Wheat)).
