My childhood was filled with violence, abuse, and terror. "No wire hangers" would be an understatement. I'm a grown adult and I go nuts over dogs.
I go nuts over dogs as well and so do many other adults. When I am walking my very handsome dog it is amazing how many people come up and speak to me about my dog. It is such a wonderful mutual ground that draws people right in. Sometimes the even scary looking people will come up and pet with such a loving hand that it melts me.....and for a shining moment my dog brings people together that are on very different wavelengths. It is a beautiful thing
I try to avoid people with pets, even moreso people who love their pets a little too much. Pets are for children. Grown adults who still go nuts over an animal often had a very sheltered life.
So you would have avoided Hitler, then, who lead a very sheltered life as a homeless man for many years. Him and his dog Blondi.
He could have humans killed by the millions without blinking an eye, but if he ever caught someone abusing an animal, it was curtains!
If he had succeeded in conquering the world, there'd be cemeteries as spacious as Central park everywhere, where his chosen people could walk their beloved pets on the green cemetery grounds amongst the headstones.
To me, a red flag is raised everytime I encounter a potential mate where his pet takes priority over everything, everyone else.
