As you stated in your post, you are a single mom . A modified single (child must be living with you and not of adult age). Why do you think if you define yourself with just the word single it is better? This is not to say there is anything bad about doing so. I am just curious on why the insistence on single status. *puzzled*

You're really puzzled? huh. I figure folk do so to note status as a means for goals (dating, finances, taxes, etc).
I just find it interesting the disconnect between those that place a positive connotation on being single to the point they must claim the status. Than there are those that are truly single, living by themselves not in a relationship, that would dearly love not having to claim single status. It seems, from some of the posts, women are more happy to claim to be single (regardless of most definitions) than men are (unless the men are trying to cheat on a relationship). Not sure why.
