"I want him to have a good relationship with his mom"

Why is this even a issue when trying to find a mate? What if he didn't have a good mother? I never seen a man saying-"she must be real close to her mom"

This from a man who rejects a woman based on her choice of footwear.....

FYI, having a good relationship with his mother will show that he has the capacity to respect women.

agreed, typically how you treat your mom in terms of respect is a good indicator of how you will treat a woman.

As funny as it sounds, it's a very valid concern. I wouldn't go out with a girl who has a poor relationship with her father or if the father is non-existent.

Are we talking "Mommie Dearest"? Define "bad mother"?

Mothers are people and make mistakes along the way, just like everyone else. Most of those mistakes don't make them bad mothers. A mature individual is capable of having a civil relationship with pretty much anyone.

It usually means that you didnt grow up with a positive female role model and it doesnt always bode well for those willing to be with you...this isnt always the case, but it could be indicative of issues you may have with women due to the mom's bad influence.
