I hope I am not coming off homophobic, but I always wondered why do some lesbians hook up with manly looking women (not so much phsyical characteristics, but style of dress, short hair cuts, excagerated walks, etc)?

If you want a man, just get a man!

I have a cousin, who recently came out of the closet, and her big thing was dressing like a man, talking, and taking up the WORST traits of men, and running wild with them (excessive drinking and smoking, disrespect to other woman, crotch grabbing, cursing, etc)

I don't understand, if she wants to be gay, be gay. But the acting like a man thing seems to undermine her "expression of love me for who I am"

She even tried fighting a man over one of her girlfriends (the guys wife of all people), however it soon became apparent that she was all woman!

Why do so many lesbians look and act like a man?
I might get blasted for this but maybe its genetic?
Same with many gay men(yes, many are straight acting).
95% of the gay people i have known. you would know that they are gay.
Theres only been one or two people that i was suprised by.
Btw Lesbians in Porn are paid actresses.

Average Joe

ok,

Have you ever witnessed a guy who is attempting to be too Macho?

Or a guy who is trying to be too Witty?

Or the guy who is attempting to be overly athletic?

I pretty much look at those type of people as pretenders. It seems that many of the more "butch" lesbians are not too comfortable in their own skin, and exagerate their whole demeanor by "acting like a man", while just like the other two, they are pretending as well.

And IMO that goes the same for the over the top "DIVA" gay men, I know very few women who do the whole "two snap and a finger type of thing"

And I still don't get why a normal lesbian would be attracted to a woman who looked like a man! Isn't the idea to get a woman and not a man?

If that makes sense

That's an easy one...they have a higher level of testosterone than other women.

I get what you are saying, and I wonder about it too. If being lesbian means being attracted to another woman, why wouldn't the lesbian want a woman who looks like a woman?

I've been hanging out with a lot of lesbians lately. Observations:

Older--mostly bull dyky
Younger-mixed, you got a buncha short hair fatties and a bunch of little kate perry hotties.

it's in "vogue" to be a lesbian.

That sounds about right, I swear I have never seen this many "butch" lesbians, I guess they were always there just not soo "tough" about it

An old cowboy sat down at the bar and ordered a drink. As he sat sipping his drink, a young woman sat down next to him. She turned to the cowboy and asked, "Are you a real cowboy?"

He replied, "Well, I've spent my whole life, breaking colts, working cows, going to rodeos, fixing fences, pulling calves, bailing hay, doctoring calves, cleaning my barn, fixing flats, working on tractors, and feeding my dogs, so I guess I am a cowboy."

She said, "I'm a lesbian. I spend my whole day thinking about women. As soon as I get up in the morning, I think about women. When I shower, I think about women. When I watch TV, I think about women. I even think about women when I eat. It seems that everything makes me think of women."

The two sat sipping in silence.

A little while later, a man sat down on the other side of the old cowboy and asked, "Are you a real cowboy?"

He replied, "Well I always thought I was, but I just found out I'm a lesbian"

i think they prefer people that dont subscribe to gender norms.

they pick people who are free to express themselves in a feminine, masculine or nuetral manner.

i dont trip about that type of stuff. its like wondering why a borwn haired guy prefers blondes? if he himself is brown haired, why doesnt he like brown haired ladies? does he hate himself for not liking brownhaired ladies? thats how arbitrary gender performance is. its like hair color.

in the end, i could care less who they choose to bed. they like women. and women come in all shapes, sizes, lengths, abilities.

thats just the way people are.
i could really care less.

altho i do have some gays that i know that say they want to be with men. and prefer guys that are men. but then again what does it mean to be a "man". its all fluid really. in arabic or euro cultures men kiss eachother. we dont here. we would consider that "gay". its all up to interpretation.

let them be with whom they want to be. no need to question or theorize about something that really dont affect you...

I agree. IMHO if i were a lesbian, I would want the most drop dead gorgeous woman as my girlfriend. The whole point is to be with a soft woman who smells good, not a woman that has hair everywhere, who dresses and acts like a man. If I wanted my woman to be a man, i'd get a man, therefore I wouldnt be gay, would I? I can understand that some gay people feel "trapped" in the wrong body, meaning they might have been born one gender but have always felt that they are the other and so overcompensate how they feel inside to be projected outside.
