I was with an extremely needy (bordering on co-dependent) woman for a year and a half once.
It was out of control.
She would text an average of 30-40 times a day - and expect a response quickly. Texts ranged from "I love you soooooooo much" (multiple 'o's) and
"I miss you soooooo much". And always expecting a response right away.
I woke up one morning in bed, and opened my eyes to find her laying there staring at me. I was like what are you doing. Her response "Watching you sleep."
If she would leave for work before I did, she would leave notes staged around my house in different places so when I woke up, the house was booby trapped with love notes. So on mornings like that, I would get up and go to take a shower. First note post a noted to the mirror in the bathroom. Next note in the kitchen (once again reminding me that she loved me sooooo much), then a couple more strategically located at where she thought I would be. Then out to my Jeep to go to work and if there was any dew or moisture outside that morning, she would draw with her finger on my windshield, a huge heart and inside it would say I love you!
When we would eat out, I would get accused of flirting with a waitress, or looking at other women. Then she would pout and be sad until I reassured her how much I loved her and that she was beautiful. She was a flight attendant so she would call in sick if she had a flight but didn't want to leave me. She almost got fired at one point for that nonsense.
When she had overnight flights she would call from her hotel room even if she landed at 2 or 3am while I was sleeping and want to talk even though she would be home the following night. I can't count how many times I fell asleep on the phone with her, and then my phone was ringing again when I woke up in the morning.
At the age of 33 she was unable to function like a normal responsible adult so when her dad didn't fix any of her life problems, I had to step in and handle things.
I wasted a couple of weekends of my life just laying in bed with her when I could have been jumping out of planes, but it was hard to escape when she insisted on sleeping with her arms wrapped around me in a love lock, and if I would get up to get some water, she would immediately panic and be like "where are you going." It was like, uhm to the kitchen.
post 5 is the best description of it I have ever read....that is needy in a nutshell
Agreed! That is certainly indeed a rather extreme case, of it
