I've been trying to meet new people and I am finding so many who have almost no time at all and so I am wondering what would life be like if I chose person X or Y?

And why are we all working as much as we are? It seems to be just so we can work, to pay more and more for having less and less. It seems we have but 5 mins of the week to ourselves.

Just doesn't seem worth it all.

Perhaps we need to change the system.

Driven by greed, whatever you have, is never enough. Good news, life isnt like this everywhere. Some choose to work enough to live, and spend rest of their time enjoying it.

Hm, I'm not sure who you're socializing with but that's not how it is here in Michigan! What a waste of a life to only work it away.

Good thread though, it's really too bad how many people spend their whole lives working for someone and making profits to a company and let their family go down the drain.

Immigrant mentality.
As for me I pull my 8 and go home, seldom work OT, and refuse to work out of state.

One reason why I like my new position, despite not making as much as other new grads, is because I know it is one where I am at home before 430-5 every day after 8 hours. I think 40 hours 5 days a week is too much (I'd prefer 4 10hr days) no way would I want to be stuck in an office working for a slavedriver CEO from sunup to sundown 6 or 7 days a week while said CEO takes 8 to 12 weeks of vacation making bank off my back.

People just don't know how to balance their time. There is always time if you prioritize it.
There are people who enjoy working, some work just to pay bills, others may want to retire early, various reasons.

It does seem like such a waste of life to work 40 hrs. a week. You can't really plan anything on the days you have to work, and after I get home I have no time to do much of anything. However, MOST of us have to work to pay our bills and live comfortably, or rather, just live, maybe not so comfortably. Thats just how it is. If no one worked, nothing would ever get done and we would be living in some 3rd world wasteland.
