Ever run a background check on someone your dating? Thinking about dating? Or marrying? Parents, would this be useful when your daughters start dating? Judiciary case search websites will pull everything up from texting while driving, to DUI's, to domestic abuse, bankruptcy to felonies.

Someone is living in fear. That's sad!

It's not a bad idea, but it can give a false sense of security. Just because nothing comes up on a criminal background check doesn't mean the person is psychologically stable, or isn't shady in some way. I ran a background check on a cashier who was really creepy with me at the grocery store, and wouldn't let up. Nothing came up on the criminal part of it, but he had several aliases, and several simultaneous addresses. It never hurts to check for red flags. I'd especially recommend this to anyone seeing a foreigner, whose background prior to entering the US you can't know, other than taking their word for it. Sometimes people aren't what they seem.

I wouldn't do it to someone. I wouldn't care if someone ran a criminal background check on me for safety reasons, but I'd be pissed off if they nosed into my business any further than that. There is no need to know my financial business.

Someone is living in denial...that's sad.

Sorry, but I'm not naive over here. I'm a petite women and would like to know beforehand what I'm dealing with. Maybe as a man you dont have much to be concerned about, but I learned my lesson and do checks so I know I'm not dating someone accused of battery or rape or something worse.

I dont judge people for speeding tickets. That isn't what I'm talking about here.

What did people do before the internet?

I've never checked up on someone I dated. If I got a weird vibe from someone, I might, but I also wouldn't date him...

Yes, a lot of us are living in fear. Did you see what happened in Aurora, CO?

If I was dating again I would definitely do a background check. The world is a nutty place these days, well it seems more nutty than it used to be.

I don't run in those types of circles so a background check is unnecessary.

That's asinine! Circles have nothing to do with anything. There is a doctor that lives behind me in a 4M+ house, he's the nicest guy ever (a pediatrician actually) but he also has 3 domestic abuse battery charges against him and he pulled a gun out on his wife one night...that was a spectacle...12 police cars and a helicopter.

I dont live in the "hood", but not every bad-guy is dressed in swat clothes and wearing a ski mask. I mean really, come on, they teach you that in grade school. Did Jerry Sandusky run in bad circles? Was he wearing a shirt that read child molester?
