In those old fairytale romances, women swoon at the idea of a man doing absolutely anything for her, and moving heaven and earth to be with her. In these stories men worship the ground she walks on. I'm sure some women would feel a thrill if they put themselves in Helen of Troy's shoes. While most real women wouldn't want a man to go to war for them, it seems back then at least a lot of women derived their sense of worth from being desired.
No doubt, we all want to feel desired and important, yet many modern relationship 'experts' warn men of the danger of 'putting her on a pedestal'. Women don't like clingy/desperate or self-deprecating men because they want a challenge... Instead, they should say, we should treat her like a human being or act like we don't care. So do you think all those all fantasies are mostly just fantasy? Or would a lot of women liked to be worshipped as goddesses? A lot of advertising, for instance, celebrates women being 'goddesses', the object of desire. Ads targeted as men portray him as a 'conqueror.'
Where do you think that 'line' lies for most women? Between 'worshipped' and being treated like a mortal of flesh and blood?

I prefer being treated as an equal. Being treated like a princess is not a desire of mine.

I wonder if those fantasies of the past were precisely because a women couldn't really demonstrate her worth by what she DID, since her work was either de-valued or she wasn't allowed in the work environment, so it depended entirely on how much she was DESIRED in the male world.
I still think this hasn't completely gone in today's world. We're a society in transition.

Today the women that wand to be worshipped are refered to as byotches.
Depends on the nature of the specific woman in question I guess I have always thought that if a woman truly and genuinely loved and cared about a male partner in a relationship, there would actually be no real reason for her to need to put him to the test, on this subject. Sort of a "treat others as you would like to be treated", sort of thing...men and women should ideally simply treat each other, as if they truly love each other; simple solution Love is not about challenges, apathy or disinterest, worship, or anything like that...

Yes, women want to be desired. This is different than wanting to be worshiped.
I want husband to desire to spend with me and to desire me sexually. I don't want him to bow down to me or be submissive to me in our day-to-day interactions. We have a very egalitarian relationship when it comes to careers, money-management, housework, child-rearing, and for the most part it works quite well expect for in the bedroom where I am forced to be the alpha or do without.
