Had to come over here and see what the rest of the world looks like.

I am just trying to point out that dating is a relatively new concept and limited mostly to the Western world. Many people get married with out dating. I am actually curious as to if dating does serve a purpose or does it hinder marriage.

I don't see how you can get married without dating someone. I don't wanna marry someone who I've never physically interacted/socialized with.

Muslims don't date and are never alone with a potential spouse until after marriage. Actually dating is somewhat a modern concept.

My first 2 marriages were before I was Muslim and I did not date then either. With my first wife we had a few chaperoned dinners at her house that was the closest we had to a date. After she passed away my second wife was a surprise to both of us. we had never dated but were friends. Out of the blue, sort of as a joke I said lets get married. I was living in Mexico at the time. We got married about 15 minutes after I said lets get married and were married for 17 years. My third marriage was by Nikkah. We exchanged notes on April 6. 2008, signed the Nikkah on April 10 each signing separately in front of our own witnesses and We met in person on May 1. We are still married and have a lot in common.
A lot of people seem to be sh*tting on this, but it obviously works for the guy if he was in 3 long marriages that only ended in death (while the rest of the country is at a 50% divorce rate).

I say props to this guy! He obviously found something that works.

Very deeply and still do. I am fully dedicated to my wife as I was to my deceased ones. My wife is my life and my main reason for waking up each day. Even though we are both elderly we are very affectionate towards each other. We have more concern for each other than for ourselves. It is easy for young folks to stay together when infatuated with each other. It takes deep love for 2 old timers to want to put up with each other.

We do share many things in common such as we both love horses and doing handicrafts. It would be ridiculous to marry someone if love is not a main part of the package.

We better love each other, nobody else could put up with either of us.

That sounds like a wonderful relationship! I'm very happy for you. That it came about through what we consider non-conventional means should be no one's concern.
