All this crap about the way to a man's heart is food. WTF!
I'm with you, OP. I always thought that the way to a man's heart was through a completely different part of his anatomy, not his stomach.
But I think these days, with so many couples sharing the breadwinner role, it's more common to get prepared foods at the grocery store, and there's not as much emphasis on home-cooking. And there have always been guys who are great cooks, and enjoy doing the cooking. (See BioMech, above.) There are all kinds out there. I can see how for some guys, having their SO do the cooking kind of reminds them of mom, in a good way, and is therefore symbolic of everything that means hearth and home to them. But times have been changing for quite awhile now, and different couples handle this a whole variety of ways.
I do most of the cooking in my house. But yeah, if my wife wasn't able to cook I would have never married her. Not because I want someone to cook for me, but because once you have kids you have to eat at home more and I'm not going to do ALL of the cooking.
It bothers me if you don't cook breakfast/lunch/dinner, because then I wonder what exactly are you doing for your meals?
Most likely you do one of the following:
1. Eat out a lot (over time causes health issues)
2. Rely on someone else for meals (Every adult should be able to cook for them-self, regardless of gender)
Just my opinion though, it seems many Americans aren't exactly comfortable in the kitchen.
As long as you dont plan on having kids and enjoy working to pay for your meals prepared by someone else, than I dont see a problem.
Exactly
