I am 51 and when I am out with my niece and her two chilren (2&5) people think I am the mother of all three...I always tell them thank you...but I could be the little ones grandma!!! To deny ones age is to dishonor yourself! IMHO! I rather be older and look younger anyday!!

We all get older, deal with it or constantly be insecure in your own skin seeking validation through other people thinking you still look pretty.
So true... on tuesday's here in Florida some stores offer a 10% discount to those 50 and older...the poor store clerks get so nervous asking women if they want the discount(rightly so because I was with my SIL when she was 48 and she nearly had a fit when she was asked)! So silly I accept and want to embrace any age I happen to be!!

With all due respect to Mary, you sound like way more fun to hang out with.

Yup same here.

You'd be surprised. It always comes up in some indirect way. Like when people are puzzled about your experience level at work.

Or when there is some pop culture reference you know (or miss). Those are the two ways it comes up for me. Something like:

"wow, I remember when I was a kid, vh1 only played videos......." "What?!?!?!?! Huh? Vh1 played videos? OMG you must be so old!!!!" :P

Or, "when I was in college, only 20% of people had their own computer. Everyone used the computer lab and we didn't have internet in our rooms until my sophomore year... We had dial up!"

I'm 35. Let's just say I went to my son's basketball practice and the next group to come in were highschool boys.

One kid nod his head and said, "Hey"

Now I thought about it and thought it may of been an ex student now older.
My son saw it and said, "Ewww that's sooo disgusting, he just hit on you."

Haha...I didn't know whether to be flattered or disgusted.

I find age questions (which is such an American-type question to ask) to be so annoying, the question revealing something about that person, that I go overboard and add 10-20 years to my age just to rid myself of that person!

I've always been young-looking for my age and I still "suffer" from it going on 63!

I guess she never looked at his DL or at any kind of document filled out. His sister and I find it pretty unbelievable, but that's how it went down. For being a Christian, he's damn self-righteous. She has let herself go and couldn't replace him that easily, so they're together for the long haul. Plus, he provided the "inputs" for the couple of kids she wanted so bad.

I've never had a problem telling people how old I am. I turned 39 on Tuesday. However, thanks to a traumatic life event, there's a part of my brain that time stopped for when I was 34, and when I fully rejoined the land of the living in 2011, my brain picked up where it left off. I spent the last year telling automatically anyone who asked I was 35 because on some level I honestly believed to be true.

I think lying about your age is just what silly insecure women do.

I'm 35 myself at least for another 2 months, and I have often been told when I have been carded that I didn't look my age. I asked them well how old do you think I look? Their response was early to mid 20's. They simply couldn't believe it when I told them my true age, and I thanked them for the compliment. Gotta love the power of youth.
