There are way too many pages in this thread to read through, but I'll answer the OP's original quesiton: I'm a pretty chill lady, and think that sometimes having a formal dinner/outing on a 1st date can create a lot of pressure and nervousness for both a guy and a lady. So, I'd personally be okay with meeting just for coffee. Coffee is inexpensive, and drinking coffee is such a relaxing, routine thing that I think it'd really diffuse a lot of pressure/tension that might come along with a first date.
In terms of morning coffee? Sure, why not? I'm not the most excited morning person, but a morning cup of joe with a potential love interest sounds like something interesting.
I asked the same question he said that most women don't want to look as if they're giving in to easily....something like that's if you go back a page his answer is there.
