I've been using Craigslist personals for about 8 months. I put a picture up, and get about 250 responses if my ad is not flagged, but it usually is. Unlike men, I do not get 'fake' or 'bot' responses-but yes there is a lot of weeding through creeps, boring messages etc.
I feel my intuition is fairly good and have not met any that I feel were "just after sex." I found many men got attached too quickly. After eight months, I'm realizing while my experience hasn't been bad, and I've gotten MANY more dates through Craigslist than other dating sites, it is pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I am at this moment, in love with a man I met there 8 months ago-who I've let in and out of my life because he's too busy to date-he has all kinds of other issues too-broken. Another lied about giant aspects of his life (owning a home, what his occupation was,) Most of the guys I've met have been nice but boring so I didn't stick around to see what they had to offer-which could be my downfall and why I keep getting further with the losers/liars/Mr. Unavailable.
It really depends on location. Where I live, there are a lot of sincere people who just haven't heard of OKCupid yet. But I've looked at CL for other areas and been frightened!
POF is worse than CL, where I live.
