I was just posting in another forum here on cd about friends and ages, etc and I thought about my SO. He is my very best friend. Never before has an SO or my spouse been my been my best friend.
I like it.....
I can talk to him about anything, and vice verse. I am able to talk to him about ex husband problems and issues and he does not seem to feel the least bit uncomfortable, and neither am I in doing it.
Not only do we share what our days were like with one another, but what our lives were like.
I don't have some best girlfriend that I run to when my feelings are hurt about something or when I am having family issues or even if I am just gossiping about this or that. (I know, gossiping is bad)
I run to him. He knows when I am happy or sad or hurt or need a hug or even just a kiss on my forehead.
We can rag on each other. I guess he is actually my everything.
Is your SO your best friend, or have you had an SO who was your best friend?
Late hubby was my best friend along with my BFF from high school I have known since I was 15. It's been 6 years since he died, she's still my BFF and I have a guy in my life who I do consider to be my best friend and vice versa but we aren't dating.
Well this is an old thread brought back up, and I did not see all of the posts before.
I actually do tell my SO everything. He is my very best friend, and that has not changed. There are no girlfriends that I complain to about him, and we really have never had an argument.
This is my perspective as well. It strikes me funny to be with someone in the single most intimate way, in my case marriage, and withhold oneself from them. Why bother?
I'd also add that just because my SO is my best friend doesn't mean he doesn't occasionally drive me up a wall, or that we never argue. We've shared our lives together for quite a while, which includes all the mundane, irritating aspects as well as the good stuff. Sometimes we get on each other's nerves. Sometimes we need space. Every couple/relationship is different.
This thread needs to be read and reread by some of the cynical folks here
